Heart Disease
In Ayurvedic texts ample knowledge on the disease is available. In both Charak and Susruta Samhitas there is a mention of five types of heart disease eg. Vatika, Paittika, Kafaj, Tridoshaj and krimij i.e. related to Vata, Pitta, Kafa triple doshas and produces from worms. Mostly Angina has been discussed in Madhava compiled and Susruta endorsed texts. Hridrog Prakarana has a mention of certain types of heart disease. It appears that many kinds of heart related diseases have been included under Vat-induced inflammation and respiratory disease on the ground of similarity of symptoms. Only when acute pain or shool is predominant it is covered under Heart Disease, where inflammation is acute it is covered under Vatika shoth and where uneasiness in respiration is acute, it is covered under Shwas Rog. Mention in Charak’s text on heart disease is quite elaborate.
Diagnosis
1. Continuous consumption of very hot and spicy food.
2. Lack of physical labor, excessive sitting for studies
3. Hurry in various activities of Life.
Common Symptoms
Fainting, fever, hiccups, difficult breathing, diabetic tendency, problem due to Kafa, is main symptoms.
Cardiac Arrhythmias
Cardiac arrhythmias is a group of conditions in which the electrical activity of the heart is irregular or is faster or slower than normal.
Cardiac arrhythmias comprise any abnormality or perturbation in the normal activation sequence of the myocardium. A slow rhythm, known as bradycardia (less than 60 beats/min), is usually not life threatening, but may cause symptoms. When it causes symptoms implantation of a permanent pacemaker may be needed. Either dysrhythmia requires medical attention to evaluate the risks associated with the arrhythmia. The signs and symptoms of cardiac arrhythmias can range from completely asymptomatic to loss of consciousness or sudden cardiac death. Beats are generated by electrical impulses in the atria (top chambers of the heart) and are then conducted to the ventricles, where they produce the powerful muscle contraction that pumps blood.
According to Ayurved when Pran vayu and Saman vayu along with Avlambak kapha are get disturbed due to faulty diet (Diet rich in salt, bitter, pungent), routine, excusive smoking, prolonged alcohol, the Cardiac rhythm may be slow or fast.
Treatment
The Ayurvedic treatment is aimed at improving the efficiency of the heart, reducing the load on the heart muscles and treating any potentially reversible causes of the disease. The efficiency of the heart is increased by using medicines and Panchkarma.
Causes
According to Ayurved faulty diet and daily routine results in accumulation of doshas (Pran vayu, Sadhak pitta, Avlambak kapha)in the heart and blood vessels, in the letter stage of age. Due to which the function of heart as a pump to deliver oxygen-rich blood to the body is inadequate to meet the body's needs. The inadequate supply of blood is caused by the weakness of cardiac muscles. In a normal healthy individual Pran vayu helps in maintaining the normal cardiac rhythm, and blood flow. Sadhak pitta maintains the temperature of the blood and body. Avlambak kapha works as lubricant (plasma) around the heart (pericardial fluid) and blood vessels.

The Ayurvedic treatment of CCF is aimed at improving the efficiency of the heart, reducing the load on the heart and treating any potentially reversible causes of this disease. The efficiency of the heart is increased by using medicines.
The Treatment method are:
1. DAVYVAPASRAYA
2. YUKTIVAPASRAYA
a) Ras-Rasayan
b) JADIBOOTI
c) PANCHKARMA
3. SATVAJAI
